Reasons For My Faith

Reasons For My Faith

Hi, my name is Rick. I hope you are having a great day. I made this site to share how I know the God of the Bible is real and reasons why it makes sense to seriously examine the truth of God for yourself.

If you already believe in God and want to become a Christian check out How To Become A Christian. If you believe we were created but still aren't sure who the Creator is skip to Okay, Then Who?

The first reason to seriously examine the truth about God for yourself is the most compelling, if the God of the Bible is real then when you die you will go to heaven or hell, and it would be a shame to see you go to hell when you didn't have to. Do you know who doesn't go to hell? Christians. How do I know? Continue reading.

I begin with a summary of the original work I did for you, then for the first time I will share some of my personal experiences with God, then finish with an abridged version of my original work.

Original Summary

Creation proves there is a God, and the Bible proves who it is. I show with mathematical certainty that we are not a cosmic accident but we were designed, built, and live because someone far superior to us wanted it so. I show with mathematical certainty the God of the Bible is that someone.

Now, for the first time, here are some of my undeniable encounters with God. I call them undeniable because even I can’t talk myself out of them.

Undeniable Encounters

My first undeniable encounter took place when I was 19. The next one didn’t happen until 22 years later.

The first one came after I dogged my aunt for the things she was saying about God. My fiance was with me and when we got in the car to leave I turned to say something to her... what the... she was at the end of a tunnel 10-15 feet away and I knew I really screwed up talking to my aunt that way. I acknowledged it, snap, everything went back to normal. I never dogged her again.

Twenty-two years after my first encounter I owned a successful debt-free pub located on two waterfront acres on the Maumee River. One morning as I brushed my teeth, I heard a voice in my head say loud and clear, “love and obey.” And with it, I had a knowing I was to sell the pub. I did.

We owned a large farmhouse in the country that was over 100 years old. It had at least 4 building stages. The first build was common for old country homes in Ohio. It started as a brick basement with a roof over it and a fireplace built in the center. The newest addition was an indoor bathroom built off the kitchen. You had to go through the kitchen to get to the bathroom. One middle of the night stroll through the kitchen to the bathroom, a weight fell on my shoulders that drove me to my knees. I hooked my elbows on the counter for support wondering what was going on, then God let me know it was Him showing me how He felt about the lost. I was afraid of being squashed, so, I asked Him to take the weight from me, which He did. A week or so before I briefly wondered how God felt about the lost. I don’t wonder anymore.

By the time I was driven to my knees, intellectually I knew we weren’t a cosmic accident, and that the biblical worldview provided more than enough objective evidence to prove its veracity. These undeniable events confirmed my budding intellectual faith in the God of the Bible. They also revealed to me He is alive, He listens, He cares, He is supernatural and He is far superior to us. I am hopeful the reasons for my faith help you discover the reality of God for yourself.

The next undeniable was by far the most pleasurable. I was at home walking around taking notes on a mini-cassette. I stopped for a second, I felt pressure on the back of my neck with an overwhelming sense God wanted to do something to me. I was afraid. What if it wasn’t God but the devil? I told God I was pretty sure it was Him but if I was wrong I expected Him to protect me. Then I declared I am putting my life in Your hands, now do what You will. Out of the back of my neck flowed what felt like thick warm honey up and over my head then down my whole body. I was euphoric, I was in ecstasy, I had never experienced anything that wonderful before or since. I tried to describe how it felt on the mini-cassette but I couldn’t find the right words. If I could have stayed that way the rest of my life I would have. Later, I had a tee time with friends so I headed toward the car still happily euphoric, then I thought if I get pulled over how was I going to explain my condition. Yeah, right, God did it. By the time I got to the course, I was near normal. I think God showed me but one grain of sand of what He has in store for His children.

Another time I was playing golf and out of the blue God asked me if I could have everything the world had to offer without Him or live in a cardboard box with Him which would I chose? “I’ll take the cardboard box.” That night or soon after my wife gave me an ultimatum it was her or God. You know how that went.

My wife had a couple of driving under suspension violations. I prayed she wouldn’t get jail time. When we drove into the court parking lot, I said I will know it was You if there is no jail time and it doesn’t cost us a penny. Our lawyer showed up. I remember the judge asked if she understood why she was there, she said yes, she pled guilty, then the judge dismissed the case. No jail, no fine, no court cost, that was a miracle. Guess how much our attorney charged us? Nothing.

These events happened. No one including myself can talk me out of them. Each one confirms and strengthens my faith in the God of the Bible and that the Bible is the most important book on the planet. It’s the only one God the Creator of the universe, the Giver of life, personally authored for you.

I don’t know if God will heal your every injury or sickness, or fix every one of your problems but He has given me the faith to say if you earnestly seek Him He will reveal Himself to you in an undeniable way. How long? As long as it takes, and there won’t be any guessing, you will know with undeniable confidence God is real. And when He does I encourage you to tell others.

Original Beginning

I spent a lot of time on the road and passed out Christian tracts along the way. I had little time to share my faith, so, I made this website. I hope it helps you find your way to God. If you already believe in God and want to become a Christian check out How To Become A Christian.

I know God is real. I found Him in Creation, the Bible, and in Person. I intend to give you sound reasons to believe you are not a cosmic accident, and that you owe your existence to the God of the Bible.

Some of my reasoning is technical, you may not know every detail, but you should be able to understand the point. Relax, take your time and enjoy the ride.

In 1993, I became a serious Christian by reading the Bible front to back and investigating the truth along the way.

Public schools teach us we are a long chain of cosmic accidents without any real purpose. We live, we die, that’s it.

The first verse of the Bible says, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."

These two views beg the question, which is true? Do we exist by chance or did someone make us on purpose? And if on purpose, then who?

These two reasons for our existence are mutually exclusive, so, both cannot be true at the same time. An example of this is the outcome of a single coin toss. It will either be a head or a tail, but not both. If one is false the other is true and vice versa.

So, Are we here by design or chance?

Let’s look at the first and second laws of thermodynamics, the law of biogenesis, the mathematical probability of life occurring by chance, and the appearance of design in nature.

The First Law of Thermodynamics is a version of the law of conservation of energy, adapted for thermodynamic systems. The law of conservation of energy states that the total energy of an isolated system is constant; energy can be transformed from one form to another, but cannot be created or destroyed. No empirical (observable, repeatable, experimental) scientific evidence exists showing energy being created out of nothing. All scientific evidence confirms the first law of thermodynamics. The origin of the universe coming from nothing by chance violates the first law of thermodynamics. Therefore, life did not occur by chance.

The Second Law of Thermodynamics is that the state of entropy of the entire closed universe will always increase over time. Entropy is a measure of the amount of disorder a system has. Entropy always increases in a closed system. Entropy is why everything eventually breaks down. The Law of Entropy says that all order eventually deteriorates into disorder. No empirical scientific evidence exists showing a process that adds new genetic information to an organism's genetic code. All scientific evidence demonstrates that organisms lose genetic information over time. That life originated and continues to proceed from disorder to more and more order (from rock to goo, to the zoo, to you!) by chance violates the second law of thermodynamics. Therefore, life did not occur by chance.

The Law of Biogenesis states that life comes from life, not from non-living matter like a rock. Until the 19th century, it was commonly believed that life arose from non-living matter by a process known as spontaneous generation. It was later discovered that under all circumstances, life only arises from the replication of other living organisms. All scientific evidence confirms the law of biogenesis. Life springing forth from non-living matter by chance violates the law of biogenesis. Therefore, life did not occur by chance.

The mathematical probability of life occurring by chance. We will use numbers like 103 and 108, where the smaller number is called the exponent and represents the number of zeroes following the number one. 103 equals 1,000. 108 equals 100,000,000. If the exponent is negative it means 1 divided by the exponent number of zeroes. 10-2 equals 1/100. 10-12 equals 1/1,000,000,000,000.

It is estimated that there are 1080 atoms in the entire universe, and 1081 atoms would be the number of atoms in 10 of our universes.

It is estimated there are 100s of trillions of cells in the human body. All these bricks of life are placed where they belong by the software and master plan contained in the DNA of our mom’s egg combined with the DNA in our dad’s sperm.

Our cells make 200,000 different proteins which are used as parts, tools, and machines to facilitate life. Each protein is made up of long chains of amino acids, where the average length is about 400. There are about 50 types of amino acids; 20 of these are used to make proteins. Amino acids come in two shapes, right- and left-handed. Only the left-handed ones are used to make proteins. Proteins are formed by connecting a specific chain of left-handed amino acids then folding the chain into its specific functional shape.

Sir Fred Hoyle was one of Britain’s best-known mathematicians and astronomers in the second half of the 20th century. He calculated the odds against one simple functioning protein originating by chance in some primordial soup as being the same as if you packed the solar system with blind men each working a Rubik’s cube, and expected them all to get the right solution at the same time. (Fred Hoyle, The Big Bang in Astronomy, New Scientist 92(1280):527, 1981.)

Sir Fred Hoyle said: Life cannot have had a random beginning … The trouble is that there are about two thousand enzymes, and the chance of obtaining them all in a random trial is only one part in 1040,000, an outrageously small probability that could not be faced even if the whole universe consisted of organic soup. (Fred Hoyle and N. Chandra Wickramasinghe, Evolution from Space (London: J.M. Dent & Sons, 1981).)

Harold Morowitz, distinguished Yale biophysicist and former master of Pierson College, wrote in his book Energy Flow in Biology that the evolution of the theoretically simplest cell, requiring no less than about 124 proteins, would be one chance in 10340,000,000. (Morowitz, H.J., Energy Flow in Biology, Academic Press, New York, 1968, p. 99.)

In Chuck Missler's book The Creator Beyond Time and Space he says, "This number is so large it would take several thousand blank books just to write it out. To put this number into perspective, it is more likely that you and your entire extended family would win the state lottery every week for a million years than for a bacterium to form by chance." (Mark Eastman, M.D. and Chuck Missler, "The Creator Beyond Space and Time", Copyright 1996 The Word For Today.)

Dr. Emile Borel, a French mathematician known for his founding work in the areas of measure theory and probability, wrote a book titled Probability and Life, a 1962 Dover English translation of the 1943 French version of Le Probabilites et la Vie. In it, Borel states a "single law of chance" as the principle that "Phenomena with very small probabilities do not occur." At the beginning of Chapter Three, he states: When we stated the single law of chance, "events whose probability is sufficiently small never occur," we did not conceal the lack of precision of the statement. There are cases where no doubt is possible; such is that of the complete works of Goethe being reproduced by a typist who does not know German and is typing at random. Between this somewhat extreme case and ones in which the probabilities are very small but nevertheless such that the occurrence of the corresponding event is not incredible, ... We shall attempt to determine as precisely as possible which values of probability must be regarded negligible ... He developed a cosmic limit of 10-50. If something has less than a 10-50 chance of occurring it will not occur.

What Borel concludes intuitively makes sense, but some may still not accept the truth, because they want it a different way. Take, for instance, a young man on trial for brutally stabbing a bank guard to death. They have eight camera angles of the event, identified 20 scars and tattoos, 5 minutes of his face on video, 23 witnesses, blood match, fingerprint match, weapon possession, and confession. With certainty the jury convicted him. But, his mother still cried out "not my boy."

For those who think anything is possible given enough time, Dr. Emile Borel said, "The occurrence of any event, where the chances are beyond one followed by 50 zeros, is an event that we can state with certainty never will happen, no matter how much time is allotted and no matter how many conceivable opportunities could exist for an event to take place." (Slí na Fírinne, Oct 31, 2011, pp. 45-46.)

Ilya Prigogine, chemist-physicist, recipient of two Nobel Prizes in chemistry, wrote: “The statistical probability that organic structures and the most precisely harmonized reactions that typify living organisms would be generated by accident, is zero.” (I. Prigogine, N. Gregair, A. Babbyabtz, Physics Today 25, pp. 23-28.)

Here are two videos to help you appreciate how absurd the assertion we are the product of chance is. The first one addresses a single protein and the second a single cell. Our body is made up of 100s of trillions of cells.

Max Planck, the father of Quantum Theory, said,  "as a man who has devoted his whole life to the most clear headed science, to the study of matter, I can tell you as a result of my research about atoms this much: There is no matter as such. All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force which brings the particle of an atom to vibration and holds this most minute solar system of the atom together. We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent mind. This mind is the matrix of all matter." Das Wesen der Materie [The Nature of Matter], speech at Florence, Italy (1944) (from Archiv zur Geschichte der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft, Abt. Va, Rep. 11 Planck, Nr. 1797.)

Sir Fred Hoyle spent decades searching for answers to questions of the origins of life and the origin and age of the universe. He eventually recognized the impossibility of life occurring by chance, and said: "Once we see, however, that the probability of life originating at random is so utterly miniscule as to make it absurd, it becomes sensible to think that the favorable properties of physics on which life depends are in every respect deliberate … It is therefore almost inevitable that our own measure of intelligence must reflect … higher intelligences … even to the limit of God … such a theory is so obvious that one wonders why it is not widely accepted as being self-evident. The reasons are psychological rather than scientific." (Fred Hoyle and N. Chandra Wickramasinghe, Evolution from Space (London: J.M. Dent & Sons, 1981), pp. 141, 144, 130.)

Those who maintain that life occurred by chance and violates the first and second laws of thermodynamics, the law of biogenesis, and is mathematically absurd are like the mother crying, "not my boy." They do it for psychological rather than scientific reasons.

The appearance of design in the natural world is obvious. Most people look at the world around them and marvel at its functionality and complexity. Even modern-day religious evolutionists like Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, Michael Ruse, Christopher Hitchens, Paul Davies, Lawrence Krauss, and others concede the natural world appears to be designed. Richard Dawkins put it this way: “Biology is the study of complicated things that give the appearance of having been designed for a purpose.” That's like saying, "The Emperor only appears to have no clothes."

Let’s look at some amazing things evolutionists say happen by accident.

In your cells roads are constantly being built and dismantled. One reason they are built is so motor proteins can “walk” bags of proteins from the production line to where they are needed elsewhere in the cell.

Think about it, a production line receives an order to make specific proteins needed in different locations within a cell. After it makes them it sorts them and puts them into separate delivery bags headed to different geographical locations within the cell. Meanwhile, roads are built so each bag can be picked up by a walking protein that hauls the bag around delivering the newly made proteins to all the correct delivery locations. (By accident?)

Most work in a cell is done by battery power. A charged battery is called ATP, a discharged battery ADP. Each battery has only one small burst of energy to accomplish a single mechanical or chemical unit of work. The motor protein you saw hauling around a bag of proteins uses one battery for every step it takes.

So there is a system in place that builds batteries, charges batteries, delivers batteries, installs batteries, uninstalls discharged batteries, and takes discharged batteries to be recharged. (By accident?)

There are about 1016 battery chargers in your body. They are clustered in power plants called mitochondria. Here are two videos, the first shows how a battery charger works, then the second shows how some supporting machinery supplies the charge for each battery. These battery chargers can operate at 6,000 rpm and recycle up to 1000 pounds of ATP per day. (By accident?)

Some cells have outboard motors that can spin at 100,000 rpm., stop in a quarter turn then spin 100,000 rpm in the opposite direction. Here are two videos about these outboard motors. The first is from the perspective of a biologist who was taught evolution was true all his life then he came across one of these outboard motors. This caused him to doubt everything he had been taught. The second shows newly developed science about how a bacterial flagellum (outboard motor) is built. It’s like watching an industrial sales video describing how a precision piece of medical equipment is manufactured. (By accident?)

All protein blueprints are stored in our DNA. There are many DNA to protein videos, but none of them show the whole story, so, I picked three that together should give you a good idea of how it’s done. It takes 150 different proteins to make one protein. These 150 are assembled into larger independent assemblies that form larger machines that turn DNA into proteins. In addition to the 150 proteins, all the batteries, amino acids, and other raw materials must be supplied in a precise just-in-time order, to make a protein. (By accident?)

DNA to Protein Machines

It is worth noting, I haven’t found a video that shows what orchestrates and supervises this marvelous process. Some researchers tried to map the interactions of just one protein and gave up concluding it was infinitely complex. But we are to believe all this infinite complexity happened by accident.

More Complex Than NYC

Although a human cell is more complicated than New York City, it is duplicated in a matter of minutes. While you watch this next video, reflect on how much work would have to be done to design, build, test, and integrate it into an already functioning system. Now try to imagine all this getting done one-minute change at a time. Don't forget every tiny change somehow has to get into the DNA of a woman's egg and into both the X and Y DNA of a man’s sperm, then they have to successfully copulate. (By accident?)

These nanomachines are only the tip of the iceberg. We make in the neighborhood of 200,000 different proteins which can be assembled into larger and larger parts, tools, machines, systems. What do you think about all these protein parts, tools, and machines along with the command and control needed for them to do what they do, all came into being by accident?

A guy in the back yells out “Yeah, but there’s a chance!” Sure, but as Borel pointed out there is a practical limit. We can calculate a non-zero probability that we can hit the moon with a bow and arrow - but practically speaking it ain’t never gonna happen. And this is a gazillion times easier to do than making an entire cell, let alone a 100s of trillion celled living being such as yourself.

You hear mockers say some living thing is a bad design, and they tell you how they would do it differently. What a joke! They could never design and make from non-organic material the living organisms they mock. They use this straw man to undermine the logical inference if by design then there is a designer, because the laws of nature, mathematics, and information science all show with certainty we are not a cosmic accident.

Those who practice the materialistic evolution religion find themselves in an untenable position. They have even redefined science and gotten their members and ill-informed members in the courts to uphold their limited definition of science to exclude being designed.

Atheists who do not delude themselves know and understand that assertions and assumptions come first before the scientific method is even put into motion. There is an a priori adherence to material causes as ultimate explanations (an assertion that has not been proven by the scientific method) which is the assumed foundation for the framework of investigation within which the scientific method is employed. That we are designed has been consciously and methodically removed from the framework of scientific investigation for psychological rather than scientific reasons.

Thomas Nagel (atheist, naturalist): "I am talking about something much deeper - namely, the fear of religion itself. I speak from experience, being strongly subject to this fear myself: I want atheism to be true and am made uneasy by the fact that some of the most intelligent and well-informed people I know are religious believers. It isn't just that I don't believe in God and, naturally, hope that I'm right in my belief. It's that I hope there is no God! I don't want there to be a God; I don't want the universe to be like that. My guess is that this cosmic authority problem is not a rare condition and that it is responsible for much of the scientism and reductionism of our time. One of the tendencies it supports is the ludicrous overuse of evolutionary biology to explain everything about life, including everything about the human mind. Darwin enabled modern secular culture to have a great collective sigh of relief, by apparently providing a way to eliminate purpose, meaning, and design as fundamental features of the world ..." (The Last Word (1997) p. 130-131.)

Nagel exposes this deep feeling, emotion, fear, this hope and want that there be no God, despite the evidence, like the mother crying, "not my boy." It is psychological, not scientific.

Michael Ruse (atheist, philosopher, biologist): "Evolution is promoted by its practitioners as more than mere science. Evolution is promulgated as an ideology, a secular religion, a full-fledged alternative to Christianity, with meaning and morality. I am an ardent evolutionist and an ex-Christian, but I must admit that in this one complaint - and Mr. Gish is but one of many to make it - the literalists are absolutely right. Evolution is a religion. This was true of evolution in the beginning, and it is true of evolution still today." (How evolution became a religion: National Post, pp. B1,B3,B7 May 13, 2000.)

Sir Frances Crick, the Nobel Prize winner for co-discovering DNA, said: In terms of complexity, an individual cell is nothing when compared with a system like the mammalian brain. The human brain consists of about 1010 nerve cells. Each nerve cell puts out between 103 and 105 connecting fibers by which it makes contact with other nerve cells in the brain. Altogether the total number of connections in the human brain approaches 1015 or a thousand million million. Numbers in the order of 1015 are of course completely beyond comprehension. Imagine an area about half the size of the USA (one million square miles) covered in a forest of trees containing ten thousand trees per square mile. If each tree contained one hundred thousand leaves the total number of leaves in the forest would be 1015, equivalent to the number of connections in the human brain! Despite the enormity of the number of connections, the ramifying forest of fibers is not a chaotic random tangle but a highly organized network in which a high proportion of the fibers are unique adaptive communication channels following their own specially ordained pathway through the brain. Even if only one-hundredth of the connections in the brain were specifically organized, this would still represent a system containing a much greater number of specific connections than in the entire communications network on Earth. (Evolution: A Theory in Crisis, p. 330.)

Our earlier math focused on the parts of a single cell spontaneously coming into existence and assembling all by chance without considering the software and information processing necessary for life. Carl Sagan, Cornell, "The information content of a simple cell has been estimated at around 1012 bits, comparable to about a hundred million pages of the Encyclopedia Britannica." (Life, Vol.10, p.894.)

Only 2-3% of DNA information is related to hardware like amino acids and proteins, the balance is related to the software to run it all. Bill Gates, Microsoft, "Human DNA is like a computer program but far, far more advanced than any software we have ever created." (The Road Ahead, p.228.)

Now consider we are made of 100s of trillions of cells, with hundreds of different kinds of cells, organs, and systems, all needing software to operate individually and collectively. Our body processes 100s of trillions of trillions of bits of information every second. All this information and information processing is infinitely complex, and the notion that this superb software and hardware engineering and construction all happened by chance is believed for psychological rather than scientific reasons.

When the theory "man evolved from a rock one mutation at a time" was proposed, we had no idea how complex a cell was. Now that we do the priests of evolution act like magic wand waving, a really good enchanted forest story and wishful thinking can eliminate the needed modifications for even the smallest change in a cell. Each cell requires many specific simultaneous mutations in different locations in the DNA of a cell and all other interdependent cells/organs/systems that the change affects.

When an evolutionary storyteller describes the leg turning into a flipper, the belly button moving to the top of one's head, or the way of breathing goes from water to free air, remember it's not as easy as just saying it happened. They give the impression it's as easy as pushing play dough around as long as you push real slow. A cell may do things at a microscopic level but it still must do the practical tasks we do at our level.

A repeatable change in a cell requires modifications to parts, part lists, tools, tool lists, manufacturing instructions, part and assembly instructions, operating instructions, all changed interfaces, command, and control hardware, and all the overarching information and control processing, just to name a few. I think a good contract engineer could expand this list many times over. Remember when they tried to map the information interactions for just one protein and gave up because it was infinitely complex. Do you think New York City could evolve from a rock by accident given enough time?

An evolutionary storyteller typically has no appreciation for or understanding of the number of real changes that must occur for each tiny step. Here is a video of an evolutionary storyteller mocking Dr. Berlinski because he thinks it's important to consider just the high-level changes necessary for a cow to evolve into a whale when evaluating the claim cows turned into whales by accident. Regardless of how authoritative he sounds, all he has are a few data points represented by pictures, spread over 40 million years, and his imaginative story about how one picture changes into another.

Notice how he indignantly said he already showed us how the nostrils on the nose evolved into a blowhole; yep he proved it by showing us pictures of two different animals and said so. Did you see how he showed how an ape hand can easily change into a whale flipper? He said so.

Now compare his rendition with a bonafide evolutionary expert storyteller who is proud to present the 3 official supposed data points over the same 40 million years. At the end of the video look at the expressions on some of the faces of two teams on opposite sides of the question "are we here by accident or on purpose?" The accident crowd is smiling at how great their proof is, and the design crowd looks surprised, like “That’s all you’ve got? You’ve got to be kidding.”

Yep, 3 data points, 3 pictures, 40 million years, and a pretentious story that proves a whale evolved from a cow because he said so. They could just as easily with a picture of a skate, self-propelled lawnmower, and a go-kart, with a creative story prove how a yo-yo evolved into a 1957 Ford Fairlane.

The evidence has shown scientifically, mathematically, logically and intuitively we do not exist by accident, and those who still maintain we do have not seriously examined the evidence or as with the mother maintaining "not my boy" do so for psychological rather than scientific reasons.

Okay, Then Who?

Who is responsible for our beautiful, mind-boggling, organic hardware and software system we call life?

Of all the explanations given for our existence, only one gives extraordinary verifiable proof that our creator and author of life is the God of the Bible.

There are many good reasons to believe the Bible, here are a few to consider.

What is the most profound evidence the Bible offers? It’s fulfilled prophecy, an irrefutable verification found in the Judeo-Christian Scriptures alone.

Prophecy is the missing element in all other world religions. It is not found in the Koran, the Hindu Vedas, the Bhagavad-Gita, the Book of Mormon, the sayings of Buddha, the Origin of Species, the Humanist Manifesto, the Atheist Manifesto, or the New Age collage of various forms of paganism.

By contrast, prophecy comprises about one-third of the Bible.

A prophecy is foretelling a future event before it occurs. As you run your finger along the timeline of the Bible you will find past prophecies fulfilled and others yet to be fulfilled. There is nothing like it.

There are no detailed, specific events predicted in any body of writing except the Bible. And with mathematical certainty, Dr. Hugh Ross shows that even a small group of these prophecies aren't fulfilled by chance.

Mohammed is the esteemed Great Prophet of Islam by a billion Muslims, but he did not prophesy. The god of the Koran is not the God of the Bible, and their Jesus was just a man that did not die on the cross (Allah tricked us into thinking he did), and this Jesus is not the Jesus of the Bible.

Mormon leaders are called apostles but do not prophesy. Their god was once just a man like any other, not the God of the Bible, and their Jesus is the brother of Satan not the Jesus of the Bible.

Charles Taze Russell and the Jehovah's Witnesses have exposed themselves as frauds by many unfulfilled prophecies. Beginning in 1874 and continuing to the present day. Their god is not the God of the Bible, and their Jesus is the Archangel Michael, not the Jesus of the Bible.

Although Oprah Winfrey is considered a prophet by some, she is not but she is a very influential promoter of New Age religious thought. None of their god(s) is the God of the Bible, and their Jesus is not the Jesus of the Bible.

The God of the Bible sets Himself apart from all other so-called gods and worldviews by His supernatural knowledge of the future.

  • Isaiah 41:21-26 God mocks idolaters to bring their best evidence to prove their god's have prophetic powers.
  • Isaiah 42:5-9  God claims to be the Creator of everything and gives fulfilled prophecies as proof that He is.
  • Isaiah 44:6-8 encourages God's people that He is the only true God and to believe Him based on His predictive power.

One of my favorite prophetic chapters in the Old Testament is Isaiah 53. Read the following and see if you can tell who Isaiah is talking about?

Isa 53:1-12 "Who has believed our message? To whom has the LORD revealed His powerful arm? (2) My Servant grew up in the LORD's presence like a tender green shoot, like a root in dry ground. There was nothing beautiful or majestic about His appearance, nothing to attract us to Him. (3) He was despised and rejected—a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. We turned our backs on Him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care. (4) Yet it was our weaknesses He carried; it was our sorrows that weighed Him down. And we thought His troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for His own sins! (5) But He was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed. (6) All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God's paths to follow our own. Yet the LORD laid on Him the sins of us all. (7) He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet He never said a word. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter. And as a sheep is silent before the shearers, He did not open His mouth. (8) Unjustly condemned, He was led away. No one cared that He died without descendants, that His life was cut short in midstream. But He was struck down for the rebellion of My people. (9) He had done no wrong and had never deceived anyone. But He was buried like a criminal; He was put in a rich man's grave. (10) But it was the LORD's good plan to crush Him and cause Him grief. Yet when His life is made an offering for sin, He will have many descendants. He will enjoy a long life, and the LORD's good plan will prosper in His hands. (11) When He sees all that is accomplished by His anguish, He will be satisfied. And because of His experience, My righteous Servant will make it possible for many to be counted righteous, for He will bear all their sins. (12) I will give Him the honors of a victorious soldier, because He exposed Himself to death. He was counted among the rebels. He bore the sins of many and interceded for rebels."

Isaiah is talking about Jesus. It describes why Jesus was coming the first time, it speaks about His death, burial, and life thereafter, all written down 700 years before Jesus was born.

There is so much material proving the existence of God, the inspiration and truth of the Bible, and the resurrection of Jesus, it makes it hard to pick what to show you. My hope is whatever I select edifies you and leaves you wanting more.

I chose four videos to wrap-up the reasons for my faith. They prophetically cover the time from Daniel (600BC) until the second coming of Jesus.

The first one is an overview from Daniel to Jesus’ return. The second explains the prophetic significance of Jerusalem. The third covers the coming new world order just before Jesus’ return. The last one is one of my favorites. Dave has been a Christian for over half a century and he's still excited about the Bible and its prophecies. I hope you like them as much as I do.

My final words: The Bible is the most important book on the planet. It’s the only book God the Creator of the universe, the Giver of life, personally authored for you.
